Getting Started

"I want to build my dream home, but how do I get started?"

Step 1 - Meet With Your Mortgage Broker

  • A loan officer can give you an idea of the approximate amount you qualify for.
  • At this point, no paperwork needs to be signed. Simply give the most current and honest information about your household income and finances so your broker can give you the most correct prequalification amount.

Step 2 - Meet With Your Builder

  • Once you know how much you qualify for, your builder can offer you some ideas about house size and lot size/location.

Step 3- Pick Out House Plans

  • Your builder may have several plans they offer and have built previously.
  • You may also locate your own house plans through an architectural agency, off the internet, or from a house plan catalog.
  • Maybe your dream home plans exist in your mind. Meet with an architect who can draw up just what you're envisioning.

Step 4 - Locate a Lot

  • Your builder may have several lots they have developed or prepared for home building.
  • You may also contact your real estate agent or search for property listed on the internet or in newspapers and magazines.
  • Make sure your lot will work well with your house plans. You will want to consider the width and length of the lot, the direction the lot faces, the slope of the lot, and the water table of the area.

Step 5 - Let JMR Development LLC. Do the Rest!

  • Once you've selected a house plan and lot location within your budget, JMR will do all the work with the city, bank, and sub-contractors to make sure your home is built as quickly as possible, with the best quality products and craftmanship.
